    • Same guy, same story as all the rest except mine is in the Navy and wants to buy a gift for his son. Wants to pay by PayPal. Will not give me his rank and serial number. I think I will play him on for awhile, just for fun.

  1. I was selling an item on Craigslist and this “Richard Cleberson” asked if it was still for sale. I replied yes and then later he tells me this story about paying full price and sending a mover to pick it up because he was an offshore marine merchant. Just wanted everyone to know….. Be aware

    • Yes, I have been contacted by the infamous Richard Cleberson and he wants to buy my car at the price I am asking and his shipper will contact me for pick up arrangements. He wants to send payment through PayPal and has requested my e-mail address that is associated with my PayPal account. I just called PayPal customer service and they have assured me that if I only give the e-mail address to the buyer that there are no issues as far as PayPal is concerned. Once the payment has been recieved and verified, then the goods/car can be shipped. However, if your e-mail address is the one that you use on a daily basis for all of your e-mails, there is a chance that a “key stroke” virus/spyware can be also sent to you and after you open the file, your information can be stolen. It will not happen automatically, but over time the scammers can eventually figure out your passwords to all of your accounts. PayPal suggests that you use a separate e-mail address for your transactions.

I hate scammers! Our commerce is affected by these individuals and we are left to pay for it due to higher banking fees due to enhanced security. I rarely buy on-line and any major transaction I conduct in person; face-to-face. I believe in the personal touch when dealing with large sums of money, property, ect.

Good luck! I hope your transactions remain safe!

  2. Be Careful!

I just received the below email/ scam from a richard cleberson

    Hello,

    Thanks for your prompt e-mail, it was just exactly what i want and can you assure me that i will not be disappointed buying this from you. I am really interested in purchasing your ad. Am a merchant marine and am offshore right now, I will appreciate if you can email me with more picture of it as i won’t be able to see this in person. I want you to answer this question about the item;

    1. Are there any other issues with the item not mentioned on Craigslist?

I will be glad if you can tell other interested buyers that the item has been sold. I’m offering the exact price listed so please kindly withdraw the ad from Craigslist. I will be paying via PayPal. I can only pay through pay pal at the moment as i do not have access to my bank account online, but i have it attached to my pay pal account, and this is why i insisted on using PayPal to pay. If this is acceptable, advice soon and if you don’t have an account, you can easily create an account fast and easy at http://www.paypal.com. I will need you to provide the following information to facilitate the Payment

    1.Your PayPal Email Address.
    2.Your address for pick up.

I will be responsible for moving, I will have my mover who handle my shipping from anywhere in the world come over for the pickup after i have made the payment.

    Thank you for your time.

  4. My fiancee got the same exact email in response to an ad he posted on Craigs List. He forwarded all the informationt to PayPal’s Fraud Department. They will be investigating this a**hole. Now that I think about it, I am also going to forward the information to Craig’s List. The item for sale was a BIG ticket item, not a joke. This guy or guys is definitely a big time scammer.

  7. Got the same email from “Richard”. It seems like anything that has any dollar value that gets advertised on Craigslist gets scam responses back – anything. Happened to my wife and I with a set of tires, boat and vehicle. Almost to the point of forcing us to go to newspaper advertising instead of Craigslist. I sent a note to Craigslist telling them as much and zero response back from them at all. “Let the buyer beware” doesn’t apply any more, but “let the seller beware” sure does more and more all the time.

  8. I even received the same mail on 9th August. As per Craiglist to avoid scammers:

    http://www.craigslist.org/about/scams

NEVER WIRE FUNDS VIA WESTERN UNION, MONEYGRAM or any other wire service – anyone who asks you to do so is likely a scammer.

NEVER GIVE OUT FINANCIAL INFORMATION (bank account number, social security
    number, eBay/PayPal info, etc.)

And that a**Hole is asking for Paypal information.

  10. I got the same from this fellow. My item was just what he wanted. Was offshore as a merchant marine, wanted to pay by paypal, would have his driver pick up the trailer I was selling. He also wanted pictures. I asked several questions such as where he lived when not at sea, but he answered none of my questions. I was foolish enough to respond to him several times, but did not give my paypal email address. Another prospective buyer hinted that this Richard might be a scammer.

  11. I just received the same email yesterday from “Richard Cleberson” for my big ticket item on craigslist. Thank you guys for posting for I will not be dealing with this a**hole. I hate scammers. It’s a shame that in these trying times people will stoop to any level of robbing people of the little that they do have.

  12. Interesting, I have an items for sale on craigslist and I got an email from Richard Cleberson asking for my paypal email address too so that he can send payment. He also requested more photographs of the item I was selling since he “will not be able to see it in person”. His lack of proper grammar and lowercase “i” made me google his name because it seemed a little too odd – that is where I found all of your comments. I will be reporting it to craigslist. Glad I found all of your comments 🙂

  13. This Richard is still out there with his scam. It has been seven months of people reporting him to Pay Pal and he is still there. The best email from him was that the FBI was going to get me if I did not send the money to the shipper for him to complete the purchase. He really pushs to get your money. Run don’t walk away from this ahole.

  15. Colombian sexpot follows as much as Waka Waka.

England paid the worth for sloppy defending that gifted Germany objectives – with central defenders John Terry and Upson having their immobility uncovered in embarrassing trend.

Wayne Rooney will return house having had minimal impression on the World Cup, and Capello himself should look at how
England can transfer forward after being handed this painful lesson by Germany.
Capello selected to maintain brazil world
cup 2010 squad religion with Upson – but the defender was the central determine in a second of defending that was virtually indescribably
bad as Germany took the lead after 20 minutes. Germany keeper Neuer’s long clearance
was routine, however each Upson and Terry have been caught out
of position, with the West Ham defender compounding his
misjudgement by being brushed aside for Klose to stab house.
