    • We got the exact same message. However, he sent an additional e-mail which really made us suspicious:

  10. I got the same message too. In addition when I took my listing off of craig’s list he wrote further saying:

I even gave him my address and he sent this message, “Hello thank for the information,please i just contacted the post office and they admits to the delay to be their faults, but they plead y to me on your behave that they would soon deliver it in your mail in the next few day, please let be little bit be patient with them.”

    WATCH OUT FOR THIS PERSON – i do not feel safe on Craigslist any longer! He emailed me from the following address: smith74893939939@yahoo.com

  16. This is a classic Nigerian email scam. They use this rouse to accomplish several tasks. One is if you do in fact sell to them, the credit card numbers used are stolen or the money orders are fake. Then the entire arrangement all the way to shipping is accomplished through stolen credit cards. The other item of business and most common for these guys with this scam is to obtain as much info about you as possible in order to appear legit in future scams. When you reply with your name or phone number, an address etc…they are able to provide this information to prospective victims in order to look legit. They will take your name and make a new email address in order to throw off potential victims as well. My wife just posted an item for sale and began receiving email from this guy “Smith Gill <smith67890009865@yahoo.com" ha ha, too bad for him… I am a Fed and have been on task force for one year dealing with this very issue busting these guys over and over… looks like I have a new case.

  17. I received the same email on September 14th from Smith Gill indicating he wanted to purchase my posted item right away and will even pay an extra $50. When payment not received/delayed, I wrote to say no longer going forward. He then sent the alert email asking to be patient and that his assistant sent the wrong payment and ask for my patience.

    Don’t trust this person!

  22. Got email today from Smith Gill at gill07079797898@yahoo.com. After posting an ad on CL for my couch, he wrote “Available for sale? would love to buy it right away.’

    He then sent the following email when I said it was available:

  31. Got the same thing but from an Aaron Karen. Funny thing is in his second email he signed Smith Gill, and I asked if his name was Smith or Aaron. Probably had written so many emails he made a mistake. Needless to say he did not respond.
