  1. Got the same text mins after I post my ad. Should of known better at this point but I sent a email anyway then this is the replay I get.

“Thanks for your response, I am sorry I am not available to view due to the nature of my job, I am in the United States Army and serve as a CBRN Specialist (74D). I want to buy this for future use. I am currently deployed wont be back till March. We are not allowed to make or receive calls frequently for security reasons but we have internet access and that is our major means of communication to the outside world. I am OK with your asking price and if you don’t mind, I can only pay through PayPal at the moment because its the most secure way to make or receive payment online this is why I’ll prefer using PayPal to pay you, all I need is your PayPal email to make the payment and if you don’t have a PayPal account, its pretty easy to set up atwww.paypal.com. I also have a few questions for you.

Whats its condition, any damages? Can I see a few closely taken pictures? Are you the original owner and what is your reason for selling?and last asking price?

I hope you consider my offer. I am ready to buy, so you can take the add off Craigslist. I’ll have a courier person come for pick up and storage after I make payment and money is in your hand. Thanks for understanding, hope to read from you soon”

At this point there is a lot of red flags………..

    • just got the same e-mail within minutes of placing CL add. also got a text from AMANDA who makes a call that requests you press #98 which is an attempt to get SIM card access to you phone and place long distance calls on your phone. the rule, no cash, no sale

  2. Yep, got the same text and email as well, and like Tony, within an hour of listing the CL ad. I haven’t bothered replying. Just a waste of time at this point.

  3. Got the same text right after I posted some furniture for sale. Glad I googled the email address prior to responding. Thanks!!

  4. Same email after I put up a motorcycle for sale. I can’t believe I answered it without doing a google search first. Stupid! I guess the thing to really avoid is clicking on the PayPal link embedded in the body of the email. At least I didn’t fall for that!

  5. I just got the same text back an hour after I re posted my ad. Googled the email address to see if it was spam. Sure enough thanks for all your reply’s.

  6. Stevenwooden2@gmail.com is still at it. Received text from 301-747-6285 just minutes after posting my truck.

    Text received:
1996 red Ford Ranger 2 wheel drive – $1500 is this still for sales? please reply me back to my personal email to (stevenwooden2@gmail.com) because am unable reply you back on this number this my office number. Thanks
    sent from ipad

  7. I received the same message from stevenwooden2@gmail.com and the phone 207-517-2989 which is from Portland, Maine. Same info but changed depending on what time of year it is. Tried getting more info from them. Refuses to do any cash transaction and says his contact person won’t do any financial transactions for him. Kept pushing me to send him my PayPal account which I do not have one. Be very careful. He pushes the PayPal info and keeps saying that it’s the most secure way to transfer money. Doesn’t ask for username but primary email on the account. Do not give him the info.
